Ski and Snowboard Schools
Here is a list of the ski schools based in Morzine, Les Lindarets, and Avoriaz. The websites can be confusing. Most have English versions. If you encounter any problems get in touch with Michael at info@chaletgueret.com. All the schools offer Ski and Snowboarding tuition and some offer Cross-Country Skiing and Snowshoeing. There is also Sit Skiing for the disabled (at the ESF – Morzine).
Morzine
The ski schools meet outside their offices in Morzine or in most cases at the top of the Pleney telecabine so no time is wasted. Group and private lessons take place on the Morzine/Les Gets skiing domain with its 50 lifts. There are a couple of restaurants at the top of Pleney. From here there is excellent skiing down to Morzine, over to Les Gets and at Nyon/Chamoissiere.
Montriond/Les Lindarets
There is a small branch of the ESF which is based at Les Lindarets at the top of the Ardent bubble. There is one nursery lift and an easy chairlift for beginners. From here there are 3 high speed chairs which whisk you up to the excellent skiing around Avoriaz in one direction and above Chatel (Plaine Dranse) in the other direction. 2 lifts will take you to the Swiss border at Mossettes. It is a great area for groups of mixed abilities to meet up at the 8 or so restaurants and snack bars at Les Lindarets during the skiing day.
Avoriaz
You have to allow an hour to get to the ski school rendez-vous in Avoriaz. Most group lessons meet on the excellent nursery slopes at Le Plateau. ESF private lessons usually meet at Place du Telepherique by the arrival station for the Prodains cable car. The quickest way to get there from Chalet Gueret is to drive to Ardent, take the bubble up to Les Lindarets, and to take the Lindarets Express chair lift to the top of the Avoriaz nursery slopes.
